Case Study Part 2: Pigeon Problem

Case Study Part 2: Pigeon Problem

CASE STUDY: Broadway Plaza, West Broadway, Vancouver, loading bay and underground parking areas.

Note: Pigeons are non native pests that can legally be destroyed or trapped.  It is legal use humane measures to stop pigeons from roosting and nesting on your property.

Problem: Broadway Plaza had from pigeons living over head in the loading bay and underground parking areas.

Solution: Loading bay – Bird Netting installed in loading bay area to prevent pigeons from roosting, nesting. First installed perimeter cable just below HVAC and piping. Then mounted bird control net to perimeter cable. Access was by man lift. See Photo.

Solution: Parking area – First placed bird trap on top of overhead mechanical ducting. Trap was out of site of public. 2-3 resident pigeons were trapped in the first two days. However, over the next two weeks there were three more pigeons that would not approach the traps. They continued to crap on customer cars and building mechanicals.

We scheduled an early morning visit with the property manager, a safety watch person and our Deturd Bird Control Worker. Our man quickly eliminated the 3 pigeons using marksman competition airgun.

Conclusion: Broadway Plaza case study has shown often several methods are required: bird netting, bird trapping and airgun shooting. It depends on the setting, size of problem. No matter, Deturd Bird Control has the methods and tools to remove pest pigeons from your property.
